MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Shorewood High School students surprised their associate principal on Friday, Nov. 14.
Amanda Jamerson was called to the auditorium where she learned that she was named Wisconsin's Associate Principal of the Year.
It's an award that recognizes leaders who help students learn and help provide a positive school environment.
Jamerson says she was blown away by being honored for a job she loves to do.
"It's a hard job, but it takes a person that does it as heart work. I believe in that. And so, if your heart isn't in it then I always say, hey if your heart isn't in it, then maybe it's not for you because it's long hours, you might not feel appreciated all the time, but you really, you create impact," said Jamerson.
Jamerson will be recognized as Associate Principal of the Year at a conference in January. She also won $1,000 for a school project. She plans to use the money to buy a kiosk for Shorewood's new digital hall pass system.
