School lunch fruits and veggies often tossed in trash, study finds

School lunches have been healthier since 2012, but that doesn't mean your child is eating it.

A study published in Public Health Reports found most of the healthy foods ends up in the trash.  Researchers took pictures of students' lunch after the selected their food and then again at the end of their lunch.  They found, while children put more fruits and vegetables on their trays, they weren't eating them.  In fact, the amount of food wasted is up by 56%.
