MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A Milwaukee Police Officer was in the right place at the right time Saturday night. Witnesses said a man stole a woman's purse on the city's north side, but an officer caught the thief right on time.
A couple was folding clothes at Suds Your Duds on N 7th St. and W Center St. The said a man came in, snatched the victim's purse and ran out.
"He flew by me with the lady's bag in his hand and then her husband ran right behind him," a laundromat employee said.
The couple said a Milwaukee Police Officer happened to be right outside and chased the man onto a nearby overpass where the officer caught the suspect. Part of the overpass was closed for about 20 minutes Saturday night during the incident.
The officer later returned the purse back to the victim. Both the couple and the employees said they're thankful police were nearby.
"Don't bother things that aren't yours," the employee said. "You don't know what the outcome is going to be. I'm quite sure he's really surprised. This was not a good night for him."
Milwaukee Police have not released an official statement on this incident.
