Public input still needed for Lakefront Gateway Plaza
The Lakefront Gateway Project is supposed to improve pedestrian access to arguably Milwaukee's finest feature - Lake Michigan. Right now you have a chance to give input about some designs for it at Discovery World.
The Lakefront Gateway Plaza is about 1.5 acres that'll be transformed into a public plaza. This is all part of the overall project. It can all reshape the lakefront. Milwaukee and Milwaukee County asked for proposals last fall - 24 were submitted. That number has been withered down to four. Now they need the public input. The displays are up at Discovery World now until August 4. People can give their own feedback about each one. Each design has its own features but most share a similar vision.
\"More of an open plaza so very much an urban plaza,\" City Planning Manager Vanessa Koster said. \"There will be connections with the future couture buildings. There would be a new pedestrian bridge that would connect down to this plaza area. A goal is to have a diverse group of people using this plaza area in the future.\"
