MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Protesters gathered outside Senator Tammy Baldwin's Milwaukee office Monday, Sept. 28, demanding she confirm Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court.
They chanted "fill the seat" because Baldwin has said she will not vote for the nominee until the next president and Senate have taken office.
President Trump nominated Barrett over the weekend to fill the seat left vacant by the death of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
"Voters sent Republicans to the Senate in 2016 and again in 2018," said Anna Kelly, Trump Victory Wisconsin press secretary. "It's the president's duty to nominate a judge to the Supreme Court and it's the Senate's duty to confirm her."
Republicans have made it clear that they want to fill the vacancy on the high court before Election Day.
