MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Tens of thousands of people are expected to watch tonight’s fireworks show along the lakefront.
People started claiming their spots hours before the event with many camped out.
However, the fate of the show was initially up in the air after losing its sponsor.
U.S. Bank, the long-time sponsor of the event had announced it would no longer fund the fireworks show.
Several months ago, Milwaukee County Parks said they needed to secure new sponsorship by April, but the deadline had passed.
Fortunately the Brewers, along with Christian Yelich and other partners saved the Milwaukee tradition by financially supporting it.
Event goers said it's a relief. "Concerned at first, but know I'm probably the biggest Brewer fan in the city, so, 'Go Brewers!'" said Mike Gile of Milwaukee.
The fireworks show starts at 9:30 p.m.
