MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating after a pedestrian was struck by a car on Tuesday afternoon.
It happened around 2:30 p.m. in the 2400 block of N. Lincoln Memorial Drive.
Witnesses in the area say the woman was trying to cross the street when she was hit. The windshield of the car that hit her was nearly shattered and the front bumper was cracked from the impact.
The driver did stay on scene.
There is currently no word on the woman's condition.
A witness says he was selling sunglasses when he heard a loud noise. He says beachgoers immediately ran over to help.
"I thought maybe she may die. She flew on top of the car. The driver stayed and the car next to the driver stayed. It was crazy. I'm glad she got help," said witness Bob Okpara.
