Milwaukee demonstrators rally to shut down migrant detention camps

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A demonstration was held in Milwaukee Tuesday. It was a National Day of Action for people who want to shut down the migrant detention camps along America's southern border.

Community activists outside the federal building on Wisconsin Avenue demanded that the camps be closed due to their conditions.

"We want to send one united message that what's happening right now is unacceptable," community leader Darryl Morin said. "It's beneath us and it's inhumane. So we are calling on all congressional members not to fund these detainment facilities -- not to expand ICE deportations of families."

Leaders asked the people at Tuesday's rally to contact their representatives to demand the closing of the camps.
