Accumulating snow is coming for tonight followed by extreme cold
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Ahead of Easter weekend, Milwaukee County hosted the 24th annual Humboldt Park Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 23.
Hundreds of young kids scoured the park for more than 5,000 candy filled eggs, and with the recent snow fall, that search was pretty easy.
The event featured free pictures with the Easter bunny and a pancake breakfast cooked up by the Bay View Lion's Club.
The egg hunt was sponsored by Humbolt Park Friends, they say a little snow never stops the fun there.
"We had volunteers out here at 8:00 a.m. and residents were coming up and saying 'yeah, we're going to do it outside, right?' We said it's going to happen rain, sun or snow. Snow happened and you know, this is the third year we've had snow for this event," said Patrick McSweeney, board member of Humbolt Park Friends.
After more than two decades of egg hunting, organizers tell us it's all thanks to the volunteers in Bay View and the families who keep attending.
