We've been enjoying talking about the mild weather. After a one day outbreak of frigid air, we are back above normal today.
Most of December has been warmer than normal and the trend will continue through the month's end. While many of us don't mind balmy days and lack of snow, the warmth does come with a few drawbacks. Persistent southerly flow over the next week with bring a stretch of days in the 40s and even some 50s possible Sunday or Monday. Folks heading out to area ponds and lakes to do some ice fishing should definitely keep a close watch on ice levels. It's quite likely ice starts to diminish through the next week with highs in the 40s and even overnight lows staying above freezing in the middle 30s.
