GREEN BAY, Wis. (CBS 58) – Green Bay Packer Martellus Bennet is talking about a scary incident involving his brother, Michael.
Michael plays for the Seattle Seahawks and claims police officers in Las Vegas targeted him and used excessive force during a chaotic situation after the Mayweather-McGregor fight a few weeks ago.
Bennett was detained by police and says at one point, an officer placed a gun near his head and threatened to shoot him.
Martellus said Wednesday, he’s proud of the way his brother handled the situation.
“I felt like God wanted it to happen to him and for him to live through it because he’s very strong in his beliefs in what’s going on in the community and help all people, not just black people, that he feels like are oppressed,” says Bennett.
Michael Bennett is expected to sit out the National Anthem at Lambeau Field on Sunday.
