Man Hits Several Construction Barrels and Signs in Town of Hartford

A Slinger man hit several construction barrels and traffic signs while veering into both the right and left lanes and crossing into the median on Hwy 60 in the Town of Hartford, Saturday night, according to Washington County Sheriff’s Department.

The 36 year-old was arrested for hit-and-run OWI after striking 3 signs in the median of Hwy 60 west of Franklin Dr in the Town of Hartford.

Washington County Sheriff’s deputies said the vehicle appeared to have front end damage and a Captain Morgan liquor bottle was visible on the front passenger seat.

A witness said the suspect had turned westbound onto Hwy 60, from Franklin Drive, cutting him off.

The driver then continued into the right lane, which was under construction, hitting several construction barrels.  The driver then corrected and again cut in front of the witness.

The vehicle crossed the westbound lane of traffic and went into the median where he struck 3 traffic signs. The witness indicated he then continued to follow the vehicle and the driver almost hit several children that were walking along the roadway.

Washington County Sheriff deputies made contact with the suspect and arrested him based on his sobriety tests.

He was then transported to the Washington County Jail where he was held on an active warrant through Slinger PD and was issued citations for OWI 1st, open intoxicant in motor vehicle, failure to maintain control of vehicle, failure to report accident, and hit and run property adjacent to highway.
