Kewaskum Police respond to fatal accident

The Kewaskum Police Department was called to the Kewaskum Citgo for a fatal accident on May 24 at 8:43 pm.

The Citgo is located at 1149 Fond du Lac Ave.

The traffic accident involved one vehicle with two passengers. The vehicle had left the roadway and stuck the sign for the business.

Upon arrival, the driver of the vehicle was unresponsive. CPR was started by the responding officer who was assisted by the Kewaskum Fire Department. Life saving efforts for the 22 year old Kewaskum female driver was unsuccessful. The 22 year old Campbellsport female passenger was transported to St. Joseph's via Kewaskum Rescue. She was treated for her injuries and released. It appears that a medical issue with the driver led to the accident. Neither Alcohol nor drugs are believed to be a factor in the crash. It also appears that the driver was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

The Kewaskum Police Department was assisted by the Kewaskum Fire Department along with the Washington County Sheriff's Office. The Washington County Sheriff's Office Accident Reconstruction Team responded to the scene at the request of Chief Bishop.
