MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Hunger Task Force and United Way of Greater Milwaukee and Waukesha County reached a major milestone Tuesday, May 17.
They've delivered 10,000 boxes of food to low-income seniors through their partnership with DoorDash.
The program started during the pandemic as a way to provide food services while maintaining as little physical contact as possible. They say it's important to continue offering this service to people who need it.
"Think about all the people who are homebound, people who can't afford to drive anymore," said Sherrie Tussler, executive director of Hunger Task Force. "People who can't get to the store. People who just need a little bit of extra help. DoorDash came to the rescue."
They hope to expand this program so it can help get more food out the door and into people's homes.
