Family Gives an Update on the 9-Year-Old Shot on Meinecke

CBS 58 spoke with a family member of little Zalaia Jenkins on Monday.

She has had some of her medical tubes removed and has started to move around more.

She was shot back on May 5 when two groups started arguing outside her home near 15th and Meinecke.  No arrests have been made.

Zalaia will turn 10-years old on Tuesday, and still remains in critical condition.

But the family is planning a celebration.

One they hope will send a message about preventing this from happening to another child.

CBS 58's Amanda Porterfield has an exclusive interview with Zalaia's family.  Watch for that tonight on the CBS 58 news at 10.
