WAUKESHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Forty-five agencies from the local to federal levels are in Waukesha participating in part of a three-day training exercise called SIMCOM.
There are four sites where the various agencies are set up throughout Waukesha County including at the Waukesha County Expo Center. In Thursday's hypothetical scenario of a spring ice storm, the agencies trained on their communication capabilities between the military and first responders.
Officials say conducting the training events helps ensure response effectiveness for people of Wisconsin.
"The scenario today will inject certain issues and scenarios into the exercise to challenge these folks as they try to de-conflict the issues that inevitably arise anytime you try to communicate across multiple platforms, across multiple agencies from the state, local, and the federal level," said a spokesperson for the Wisconsin National Guard, Captain Joe Trovato.
The last day of the training is Friday where they will discuss problems that came up and how they were solved.
