Couple Finds Bullet in their Bedroom that was Fired from Neighboring Apartment

MADISON, Wis (Channel 3000). - A 26-year-old Madison man was cited Monday night for accidentally firing his handgun while inspecting it, police said.

The gun owner called police after firing the weapon around 11:45 p.m. in the 600 block of East Johnson Street, according to a release.

He said he thought the bullet lodged in a wall, but a husband and wife who live in a neighboring apartment discovered a bullet on the floor of their bedroom Tuesday morning, officials said.

The couple reported hearing a loud bang in the night, but did not know what had caused it, according to the release. They were in bed at the time of the incident.

No injuries were reported.
