Controversial Cedarburg Restaurant Gets Liquor License Renewed

A controversial Cedarburg restaurant will keep it’s liquor license, at least for now

Monday night the common council voted to renew the license for August Weber Haus.

The owners stopped keeping regular hours and serving food after sexual harassment allegations against the owner's son, who used to work as a bartender, came to light. The investigation in the claims is still open, though the owner's say their son no longer works at the restaurant.

Neighbors spoke out at the meeting, calling for the council to deny the license renewal. Many argued that the restaurant is not making use of one of the limited liquor licenses in the city.

The police chief told the council there is an investigation into the business practices at the restaurant and it will take about a month.

The council decided to approve the renewal, but will revisit the issue when the police investigation is complete.
