MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) --- The return of baseball means much excitement for the city of Milwaukee.
Fans say they can't wait to root for their home team and area businesses are gearing up for a boost in customers come opening day.
"I love going to the park. I love watching baseball. Just the whole atmosphere," said Greg Fritsch, baseball fan. He's one of many Brewers fans who say they're glad to finally be able to mark the season opener on their calendars.
"I love the Brewers. The season was cut short last year but we’re looking forward to this year." said John Nedland, another baseball fan.
As fan excitement grows, businesses are also preparing for an influx in customers this MLB season, especially for home games.
"Opening day is nuts," said Paul Budiec, Paulie’s Pub & Eatery Owner.
Budiec says a home opener can bring in hundreds of customers to his West Allis pub. Some customers come to watch the game, while others come to pre-game.
"We have a lot of people that take our shuttles," said Budiec.
At Paulie's, the boost in business from baseball season will add to an already busy month and now he has some time to prepare his staff for the league opener on April 7 and the home opener on April 14.
"It gives us a couple weeks," he said.
With COVID-19 restrictions relaxing, fans say they expect this baseball season to be unlike any other.
