Attanasio says Braun not going anywhere, looks to 2014

Milwaukee -- Brewers owner Mark Attanasio was in Milwaukee Thursday to accept an award, just days after a national column appeared speculating about the possiblity of Ryan Braun being traded.  Attanasio laughed that off and said Braun isn't going to be traded.



 \"We don't want to overreact to how bad it was. It was bad. I'm not kidding myself,\" Attanasio said.  \"We got to see a lot of young players and they really, they really did well. Khris Davis, Scooter Jennett, bunch of our pitchers. I saw this kid Jimmy Nelson, i think he's younger than my kids, pitch in Citi Field and he is awesome.  Whether he's major league ready we'll see but he's got a lot of talent. very positive surprises with our young guys this summer.\"



Attanasio referenced young All-Stars Jean Segura and Carlos Gomez.  He said everyone is focused on what the division rival and National League Champion St. Louis Cardinals are doing. 



He acknowledge the Cardinals set the bar high, but said they must not forget the success the brewers had recently.  He said expectations are high for next year.

Attanasio and his wife Debbie were in town to receive an award for their support of Milwaukee Public Libraries.   They received the 25th-annual Benjamin Franklin award for work with libraries in Milwaukee.
