MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Silver Spring Neighborhood Center received a $30,000 contribution from AT&T to support the creation of a new innovation lab.
The new lab aims to bridge the digital divide with access to technology on Milwaukee's northwest side.
Low-income children and their families will have access to computers and technology they may not have had before.
Plus, digital literacy workshops and job training will also be available on-site.
"Being connected is to be empowered, whether it's students attending virtual classes, parents finding job opportunities, or seniors staying in touch with families," said Alderman Mark Chambers, Jr. "The digital world is where life happens."
The innovation lab is expected to open early next year.
