MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Hundreds of kids took advantage of the weather Thursday afternoon, July 25, with lots of activities and a healthy lunch. The 16th annual Walk for Wellness at Kadish park saw a record-breaking number of kids from Milwaukee’s neighborhood centers.
900 kids went for a walk, created art projects, and played a game of kickball. United Neighborhood Centers of Milwaukee (UNCOM) says it's important to instill health habits starting at a young age.
"This is the one time each year that all of the kids from all of the UNCOM centers come together to celebrate them. They’re amazing kiddos," said Renee Logee, the executive director of UNCOM.
Some students also got the opportunity to talk to mentors and discuss summer jobs, money management, and other life skills.
