Police arrest 39-year-old maintenance man following double homicide

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police have arrested the 39-year-old maintenance man who shot and killed two teenagers following an altercation in an apartment building.

Police say a 19-year-old male and a 17-year-old female were killed following a fight in the stairwell of an apartment building. We're told the two teens teamed up with a 21-year-old man to assault a 39-year-old maintenance man.

One of the three people assaulting the maintenance man produced a bat, and the maintenance man pulled out his gun. The maintenance man fired his gun hitting and killing the 19-year-old and 17-year-old. The 21-year-old man is in police custody.

Police can not confirm what exactly preceded the argument, assault and shooting.

The 39-year-old man was treated at a local hospital following the incident, and was taken into police custody.

The Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office is still deciding whether to charge the maintenance man with two counts of first degree intentional homicide.
