Man Drops Pants and Gropes Woman near UW-Madison Campus

MADISON, Wis.  (WISC) -A woman was groped by a man near the UW-Madison campus early Monday morning, according to a release.

Police said the man dropped his pants and rubbed up against the victim, a 21-year-old woman, near the corner of North Bassett and West Washington Streets.

The victim ran away and police attempted to find the man with the help of a tracking dog, but were unable to locate a suspect.

Police received a call about 20 minutes beforehand from another woman who reported being followed by a strange man on Doty Street. Officials said she was able to get inside her residence and lock the door before he tried to turn the knob.

Authorities believe the two cases are connected.

The suspect is still at large, and is described as a heavyset 5 foot 10 inch black man wearing blue jeans and a black coat with a white T-shirt.

Anyone with information on the incident should call Madison Area Crime Stoppers at 266-6014.
