Brown Deer man falls victim to scam for a baseball team

Brown Deer Police were called to a house after a 22-year-old man reported that he was a victim of an internet scam. The man got an e-mail inviting him to join a semi-pro baseball team in Brazil.

He was told to send a $35 Money Gram to cover a Visa fee and to send a photo of his passport as well. The man told police that he sent both the MoneyGram and a picture of his passport to the person he was communicating with.

Once the man realized he was scammed, he called Money Gram and got his money back. The man only wanted the incident noted since there was no loss of money.
