Rain and storms to start your week

Periods of rain and even storms are likely to start your week today. A decaying storm system and low pressure will track northeast into southern Wisconsin bringing weak storm activity, but some heavier downpours. The showers will pick up in intensity this morning, and then head north and east before coming to a close by this evening.

The Storm Prediction Center has a general thunderstorm risk of most of Wisconsin and not any strong to severe weather potential. This makes plenty of sense considering the lack of instability, cool temperatures, and just enough for a few bolts of lightning.

Rain in the forecast means watching areas that had flooding in the last week along the Rock, Root, and Fox Rivers. This looks to be a quick bout of rain today with 0.50”-0.75” of rainfall.

More rain is forecasted for the region later this week and over parts of the weekend. In the meantime, temps will climb the rest of the week to spring and summer-like readings nearing 80.
