Is Taylor Swift the most famous Packers spectator?

NOW: Is Taylor Swift the most famous Packers spectator?

GREEN BAY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- After endless hype and questions of "will she or won't she," Taylor Swift did. Swift came to Lambeau Field Sunday night to watch her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, play against the Green Bay Packers.

It led us to a simple question: is Swift the most famous person to visit the frozen tundra? The entire state of Wisconsin?

She has some competition for that title.

It may depend on your definition of the word "famous," but when the Federal Reserve credits your concert tour with boosting a regional economy, that puts you in a rare echelon of star power. So no offense to Justin Timberlake, Lil Wayne, Will Ferrell, and all of the other very famous Packers fans, but Swift eclipses all of your star power.

Certainly, The Beatles would qualify as Swift-level superstars. And while it wasn't for a game, Sir Paul McCartney played in front of a sold out Lambeau Field in 2019.

Heads of state have headed up north to the frozen tundra. Then-Vice President Richard Nixon helped open a newly renovated City Stadium in 1957.

Nixon would later win the presidency, and City Stadium would later be renamed Lambeau Field.

President Bill Clinton toured Lambeau Field in 1996. He chatted with future NFL hall of famers Reggie White and Brett Favre.

If there is a criticism of Swift's visit, it's that she did not take in Green Bay's night life before or after the game. Some celebrities do explore the city. According to TMZ, Charlie Sheen went on a Green Bay bender after a Packers playoff win.

If we expand our "most famous" question to include the entire state of Wisconsin, Michael Jackson played in Milwaukee with the Jackson 5 in 1974 and 1981.

And the king himself, Elvis Presley played the Dane County Coliseum in 1977. Legend has it that after the concert he got out of his limousine to stop a fistfight, using his karate moves to distract the combatants.

A plaque even commemorates this selfless act

While Swift's visit will not earn a plaque, it may be fair to say she is the most famous person to ever watch a Packers game at Lambeau Field. To their credit, the Packers were never starstruck, and sent Swift back to her private jet disappointed.
