Drag Racing Exhibit Opens Saturday At Harley-Davidson Museum

A new exhibit about the history and culture of drag racing opens Saturday morning at the Harley-Davidson Museum. Two years in the works, it will feature historical bikes, cars and artifacts.

Curators traveled across the United States to collect the items on display. Drag racing started in California, but has roots across the country, including right here in the Badger State.

"Here in Wisconsin we have a very old very famous drag strip called the Great Lakes Dragaway, just half an hour south of Milwaukee," said David Kreidler, the Curator of Exhibits at the museum. "It's been open since 1955, and so there are collectors and folks all over the country that had the artifacts that we were looking for."
