MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Inside American Family Field, you may expect a ballgame. On Wednesday morning, instead of ball players, there were some other familiar faces on the field.

CBS 58's Ready Weather team celebrated its annual Weather Day in partnership with the Milwaukee Brewers.

There was no need for bats or gloves, just lab coats and goggles.

“Being able to see a lot of people and talk about weather and weather safety," Tim Halbach, a meteorologist with Milwaukee's National Weather Service.

Good weather makes for a great ball game, but sunshine isn't always guaranteed.

“Wisconsin – we’re going to have severe weather year after year. So, it’s always good to have some knowledge when the weather gets bad," said Halbach.

That's why students from the Milwaukee area got some lessons in weather safety.

“Cause if you’re not safe and don’t take precautions, you could get hurt," said student Wesley Mensching.

Meteorologists conducted science experiments on the field to explain high temperatures, pressure, wind, and other weather conditions. Each experiment brought an explanation for some of the biggest questions.

“Like how big the sun is and then like how small the earth is compared to the sun, but it still blocked out light for the eclipse," said Mensching.

Science lessons aren't just limited to the classroom. They can also happen in the ballpark.

“I’m excited that I was able to learn about this stuff and I can use it to go forward," said student Paisley Logan.
