Cinco de Mayo celebration held at UMOS Center
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Students from the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Milwaukee were invited to Greenfield's Meijer store for a back-to-school shopping event with some Brewers Tuesday, Aug. 8.
With Labor Day around the corner, families are starting to inevitably prep for the return of school, and Tuesday was a great day to get a head start on that.
Brewers "freshmen," rookies Sal Frelick and Joey Wiemer, were at Meijer helping families get what they need.
"It's awesome to be part of it, kind of get to experience everything in the big leagues and contribute to the team and feel like you're a big part of things going on," said Wiemer.
"It's really fun...I mean I think this is a perk of being in the big leagues as well. It's a reminder that you know, you're not just here to, you know, entertain and play the game, it's also bigger than that," said Frelick.
Twenty students got to shop for $125 worth of supplies with a member of the Brewers and walked away with a Brewers/Meijer gift bag.
