A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for most of Milwaukee county and far eastern Waukesha county until 5pm. 60 mph winds and quarter sized hail are the concerns as it moves east at 25 mph.

Additional storms are popping both along the lake breeze and cold front. With all of the heat and humidity in place, storms that pop between now and 8pm could be strong to severe.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Wednesday's heat verified right on track with the forecast. The high temperature in Milwaukee hit the century mark for the first time this year topping out at 101°. Since we also hit 100° last year, it is the first time we've had back-to-back years hitting 100° since 1994-1995. The rest of southeast Wisconsin also saw mid to upper 90s.

Once you factor in the humidity which had dew points in the upper 70s to around 80 we saw peak heat index values throughout southeast Wisconsin reach 110-120° throughout much of the area.

Our heat isn't done. An excessive heat warning is still in effect for most of southeast Wisconsin including Dodge, Washington, Jefferson, Waukesha, Milwaukee, Walworth, Racine and Kenosha Counties until 7 PM for the possibility of feels like temps surpassing 105°. A new heat advisory is also in effect until 7 PM for Fond du Lac County for heat index values over 100°. Sheboygan and Ozaukee Counties are not currently under any heat alerts with a possible lake breeze there keeping temps in check.

Peak heat index values for most of southeast Wisconsin will still reach the 100s for most of southeast Wisconsin. There is some uncertainty as a lake breeze backs out of our area and then returns later this afternoon which could have an impact on temps and humidity, but otherwise expect another dangerously hot day.

In addition to the heat, we've also added a new isolated chance for a storm Thursday. The best timing for that looks to be in the late afternoon and evening. Download the CBS 58 Ready Weather app to track any storms that develop.
