16-year-old arrested in connection to Oshkosh West High School shooting, stabbing

OSHKOSH, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A 16-year-old has been arrested after attacking a school resource officer with a knife at Oshkosh West High School on Tuesday, Dec. 3. 

The Winnebago County Sheriff's Office reported the Oshkosh teen faces a charge of first degree intentional homicide. 

According to police, a student confronted a school resource and they got into an altercation.

“The student produced a weapon and stabbed the officer, at which time the officer fired on the student, striking the student one time,” said Dean Smith, Oshkosh Chief of Police.

The incident put the school under lockdown. Both the officer and student were treated for non-life threatening injuries. 

The teen suspect is being held at the Winnebago County Jail.
