Governor Scott Walker Helps Volunteers Make Care Packages for Troops

BROOKFIELD - Some generous folks in Brookfield took a break from work to support the men and women who serve overseas.

The Hunzinger Construction Company organized the effort.

Volunteers packaged all sorts of donations from shampoo to pop-tarts. Governor Scott Walker even stopped by to help. When the company started this effort in 2006, they were sending donations to only one soldier. Now, its care packages are sent to more than a hundred different military units.

"When we started this we never knew we'd be doing it for 11 years. We've sent packages to Iraq, Africa, Somalia. It's a mission we'll continue and we hope more people will join us.

The company says in all they've collected more than 40 tons of donations.
