Milwaukee Public School Students Get Free Books to Take Home

For the second year thousands of Milwaukee Public Schools students will get books to take home for free as part of the My Very Own Library program.

Author Natasha Tarpley on hand to fire up students at Lancaster School although you got the sense it was the words from their upper classmen that had them reaching for a page turner.

“Reading is an every day things when you get up before you go to bed. you just got to read throughout the day, throughout your life,” said Mulik Henning, eighth grader.

Scholastic and United Way are part of a long list of groups helping to support this effort to instill a passion for reading in some of our most challenged neighborhoods.
