Citizens Patrol to Start Monday Night in Sherman Park

There will be extra eyes and ears watching over the Sherman Park neighborhood starting tonight.

The Citizens Patrol will start making rounds after a year of planning.

Volunteers met last night for orientation.

An MPD officer gave training on how to stay safe, how to spot suspicious activity *and* how to report it to police.

Residents said they are focused on protecting the community and each other.             

The Sherman Park Citizens Patrol is a pilot program.

Patrols will happen three nights a week

Organizers hope to soon expand their efforts to other neighborhoods.
