Excitement Building for this Sunday's Komen Race for the Cure Along Milwaukee's Lakefront

CBS 58 News is proud to be returning as media sponsor for this year's Komen Race for the Cure.

One in eight women in the U.S. will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime.

When you participate and  raise money for the Race, the Komen Foundation can continue its fight against  these statistics.

In 1980, the 5-year relative survival rate for women diagnosed with early stage breast cancer (cancer confined to the breast) was about 74 percent.

Today, that number is 99 percent!

Komen has played a critical role in every major advance in the fight against breast cancer - transforming how the world talks about and treats this disease and helping to turn millions of breast cancer patients into breast cancer survivors.

You can participate individually or as teams.

There will be a fabulous opening ceremonies before the participants take off from the stating line near the Milwaukee Art Museum at 9 a.m.
