UPDATED: Milwaukee Police Officer Dragged by Stolen Car, 4 Teens Arrested

Thursday, July 14, 2016 --- The case of one car stolen from a Sturtevant car dealership is solved. Four teenagers, two 17-year-old males, a 16-year-old female, and a 15-year-old female are in custody.

A Milwaukee Police officer was injured in the process. The 51 year old officer.

Around 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday, a stolen 2016 Hyundai Accent was being chased by police. The car was stolen from Racine Hyundai in Sturtevant early Wednesday morning.

The car went down N 75th Street in Milwaukee --  which is a dead-end street -- and drove up on the curb.

Neighbor, Jeff Peterson saw the four teenagers occupying the car get out and run to the alley. The car was left in drive mode. He said two officers were close behind the teens. One officer chased the teens, the other officer tried to turn off the car.

"The cop got into the passenger side to turn off the car, and the car started rolling back. So, he got caught, and his foot got run over, and got banged up," said Peterson.

Peterson said he and other neighbors watching rushed to help the injured officer.

"Our neighbor is actually a doctor, and so he was able to band-aid him up and make sure he was all okay," said Peterson

The doctor's wife said he used up most of their first aid kit.

Another neighbor, Patty Wehr, says the street is usually quiet.

"In 35 years, I haven't seen anything like this," said Wehr.

She believes the driver in the stolen car thought their cul-de-sac was a through street.

"Of all the streets they picked, they picked a cul-de-sac, and they couldn't get through, and that's why they had to abandon the car. And I think they were trying to get up the hill," said Wehr.

Wehr's daughter was in their backyard grilling. She saw the four teens running down the alley and alerted the police officer on foot.

"Some kids ran by in the alley, and then she saw a cop come by so she pointed the way down the alley," said Wehr.

The injured officer stayed on scene until his job was done.

"It was amazing, he was very alert and still not worrying about his injuries and making sure people got caught," said Peterson.

The officer has been released from the hospital and is recovering at home.
