NEW DETAILS: Police Officer Accused of Child Enticement Volunteered at a Milwaukee Temple

When Sonthana Rajaphoumi wasn't working, he spent some of his time volunteering at the Lao Buddhist Temple in Milwaukee.

Rajaphoumi has worked for the Milwaukee Police Department for just under 16 years, and is now suspended without pay.

Temple board director Thonglo Rattanasomata says he's surprised to hear about the allegations against Rajaphoumi.

Rattanasomata said since 2014, Rajaphoumi volunteered at the temple about once a week. He said people at the temple knew him as a police officer, and respected him because of that. Rattanasomata also said Rajaphoumi would also help interpret for members.  

               

The president of the Milwaukee Police Association who said he has no comment so far.

               

We also reached out to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s office, and it says it has not yet received this case for charging.
