Gov. Walker leads in Iowa after first week of Presidential campaign

It's been a little more than a week since Governor Scott Walker officially announced his candidacy for President in 2016, polls have him in second. His campaign likes the reception he's getting in a key state.

Right now, Walker is leading in Iowa by nine points according to a Monmouth University poll.

Walker spent three days touring the state. He made stops in 11 Iowa counties last Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

The full week included stops in six states, and covered almost seven-thousand miles.

A UW-Milwaukee political science professor, Mordecai Lee, says Walker has done amazingly well during his first official week as a Presidential candidate.

Tuesday, a new Republican candidate entered the field, Ohio Governor John Kasich. While getting a late start, Lee says Kasich may deliver a hit to Walker's momentum.

\"I think the choice between Governor Walker and Governor Kasich is sort of a choice between orthodox views and electability, and I think it's uncertain who will catch on.\" Lee said.

Week two for Walker includes stops in Tennessee, California, North Carolina, and again New Hampshire. His campaign says Walker intends to stop in all 10 New Hampshire counties in the coming weeks.
