Cudahy honors heroes who rescued girl from Cudahy MIddle School Pool

Those horrible memories of her friend at the bottom of the pool at Cudahy Middle School last February melted away before a grateful crowd of Cudahy citizens and council members as two middle school students  were recognized with two of their teachers for saving a girl who suffered a medical incident while swimming and lost  consciousness in the water.

\"The moment that it happened it was so traumatic I wasn't thinking about getting a reward a plaque or anything,\" Stephanie Kressin told CBS 58 News.

On Tuesday, April 21st, the Office of the Mayor and Common Council of the City of Cudahy provided honorary resolutions to Kressin and fellow student Gwenivere Eckert and Cudahy Middle School Teachers Tim Griffith and Melissa Strzok.

\"It's nice to know all the training and preparation you put in for when the time comes, everybody did what they were supposed to do.\" Griffith said.

Humbled with the honors, the group said they hope it inspires others to learn water rescue and CPR.

The student has made a full recovery and was on hand for the special occasion.

\"I'm just so glad you're still here,\" said Gwenivere Eckert.
