Overnight fatal fire in Delavan

 Police and fire officials were called to a fatal fire in a first floor apartment at 501 Parish Street, early Sunday morning. 

A resident residing on the second floor of the building was alerted by the smell of smoke and the sound of a smoke detector. 

When officials arrived on scene they found the body of a 61-year-old, who is believed to be the only resident of the apartment where the fire originated. 

Two residents of the building were able to escape.  

Red Cross is assisting the two displaced residents.
