ESPN: Braun called other players for support during appeal
by WDJT Sports

Ryan Braun has been away from the Brewers for several weeks, but the buzz surrounding Braun's suspension and PED use continue.

A report from ESPN's Buster Olney Sunday night says that Braun called other players around the league to lobby for support during his appeal of a drug suspension early in 2012. The report says Braun had information on sample collector Dino Laurenzi, Jr., including that Braun had been told Laurenzi was an anti-Semite. Braun is Jewish.

Also on Sunday, Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson lashed out at Braun, saying that he had one question to ask Braun face-to-face and wondering if the Brewers slugger is "about rehearsed by now" and "about ready to come out" about his use of performance-enhancers.

Braun was suspended 65 games by Major League Baseball last month.
