Woman rescued from Menomonee River Sunday morning

A  woman was rescued from the Menomonee River early  Sunday morning.   According to the Milwaukee Fire Department, the woman fell from the 6th street viaduct into the Menomonee River just south of the Harley Davidson museum around 8:30 AM.   MFD authorities said Officers from the Milwaukee Police Department were first on scene and were able to toss a life ring to the woman.   She held on to the ring until Milwaukee Fire Fighters arrived.  The fire fighters commandeered a small skiff and were able to reach the woman in the river.   She was safely brought to shore and then taken to a local hospital for evaluation.   How the woman fell from the bridge is not clear at this time.
