Woman dies after weekend house fire

A Milwaukee woman rescued from an apartment fire early Saturday morning has died. The fire broke out on the second floor of a 7-unit building near 51st St. and Keefe Ave. around 3:00 a.m. on Saturday. When firefighters found the 60-year-old woman she was not breathing, but they were able to revive her.

On Wednesday, the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner reported that the woman had passed away on Monday at Columbia St. Mary's Hospital. An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday. The woman's name has not been released.

The apartment fire displaced 7 other people, including 2 children. Investigators say there were no working smoke detectors inside the building.
