Washington County: Fire at Kreilkamp Trucking causes over $1 million in damages

ADDISON, Wisc. (CBS 58) --- The Washington County Sheriff's Office responded to a semi-tractor engine compartment on fire inside a large pole shed at Kreilkamp Trucking on Friday, Feb. 12.

Officials say it happened around 5 p.m. in the Town of Addison.

The pole shed and all its contents were a total loss. Officials estimate structure damage to be approximately $1,000,000, not including its contents. 

According to a news release, the caller stated he attempted to extinguish the engine compartment fire, however the fire grew rapidly. Officials say the caller stated he exited the pole shed and closed all doors to remove the oxygen source. Nobody else was inside the structure.

The shed was used for store bulk products and semi-tractors. Officials say, inside the pole shed at the time of the fire were three semi-tractors, corn seed, cotton and wood shavings.

Fire personnel arrived on scene and extinguished the fire, which was contained to the large pole shed.

The cause of the fire is believed to be in the engine compartment of one of the semi-tractors, according to the Allenton Fire Chief.

No fire or police personnel were injured, officials say.

Seven fire departments responded to the fire, including Allenton, St. Lawrence, West Bend, Iron Ridge, Mayville, Hartford, Kewaskum, Slinger, Kohlsville, Theresa, Knowles, and Lomira. WE Energies also assisted on scene.
