MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – If you’re doing any spring cleaning, “Take Back My Meds MKE” is encouraging you to safely dispose of any unwanted medication.
By doing so, you’ll be keeping dangerous medications out of the wrong hands and helping in the battle against the opioid epidemic.
One woman says her son got high on unused medications, leading to their drug addiction.
“Initially it was prescribed, then later they were able to obtain them from other sources from people that didn’t have them secure,” said Michelle Jaskulski with the Addiction Policy Forum. “Three out of four people start with a prescription opiate then move to heroin.”
There are 76 locations across Milwaukee County to drop off medications.
A map of the locations can be found by clicking here.
