WEST ALLIS, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating an assault that happened at McCarty Park.

Resident Chris White got a desperate knock on his door around 11 p.m. Thursday night.

"It ain't just a knock, it was a bang bang bang," White said. "It was a knock for help is what it was."

A 52-year-old woman came to their home saying a man had just raped her inside McCarty Park in West Allis. The White family quickly called the police.

The woman said she was walking by bushes in the park Thursday night when a man lurking in the shadows attacked and assaulted her.

"He came out and pulled her by the ponytail and started dragging her to a dark side of the park," White said.

West Allis Police and Sheriff's Officials responded and canvassed the area for the suspect, but have not caught the suspect yet. Milwaukee County Sheriff said he is disgusted by this sexual assault.

"Does things to her which quite frankly are too vial to discuss right now," Sheriff Schmidt said.

Sheriff Schmidt said while they have leads on who the man is, they still want the public to remain alert. He advises if someone is forced to walk alone to have 911 dialed on your phone or be on the phone with someone while walking.

"Don't go out alone, until we make sure we have got this person and we want to keep it as safe as possible," Schmidt said.

He is described as a black male, 30-31 years old, short hair, with a goatee. He was last seen wearing khaki shorts, sandals, and a blue t-shirt with yellow lettering on it.

If you have any information regarding this incident, you're asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 414-278-4705.
