PORT WASHINGTON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Small Business Saturday takes place this weekend. As you head out to do your holiday shopping, it's a reminder to support the local businesses in your community.

If you travel within a few blocks of Downtown Port Washington, you'll find dozens of local shops, and many that feature products made locally.

One example is Kelly Brown at Locally Inspired. Her passion is selling goods made in her home state.

We asked her, "Why start a business that focuses on local Wisconsin made stuff?"

"That was really big for me. When I started, I wanted to have a connection with the people that are making the products in my store," said Brown.

Locally Inspired is one of ten businesses participating in the Shop Hop Event in Downtown Port Washington this Saturday, Nov. 25.

The first people to walk through the door of each business will get a swag bag.

"It's filled with goodies and coupons from around town, but we put some special items in from just our store, like scrunchies, nail wraps, some candy to keep you fueled for your shopping adventures," said Nikki Dudei from Candid Form Boutique.

These business owners say it's a way to give back to people who support them.

"I would consider it customer appreciation," said Dudei.

Many businesses will open their doors at 9 a.m. with doorbuster deals.
