MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- As seen on security footage, a man, identified as a 39-year-old, is seen getting in a scuffle near Wisconsin and James Lovell Street with three others, over a bike before he was shot Wednesday afternoon. The ordeal has shaken employees in nearby businesses. The man is expected to survive.
Milwaukee police said the shooting happened on Wednesday around 5 p.m. The 39-year-old was taken to a hospital and is currently being treated for non-fatal injuries.
Property Manager of the Wisconsin and James Lovell Street block Mike Platek, who happens to live on top of where the shooting occurred, said he is shaken by this type of violence.
"I heard the noise of course which was a very loud bang, I got up off my couch and looked out the window and saw a lot of people hoovering around a gentleman that was laying on the sidewalk," said Platek.
Platek said his block is usually calm but believes more police presence could prevent another incident like this from happening again.
"I think the presence of a police officer is sometimes more intimidating to somebody that's going to do something wrong," said Platek.
A close friend of the 39-year-old man said he is recovering and doing well at a nearby hospital.
MPD said this is still an ongoing investigation. It's unclear if anyone is in custody.
