Sauk County homicide suspect in custody after fleeing scene, firing shots at police
WKOW via CNN Newsource TOWNSHIP OF BARABOO, SAUK COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Sauk County Sheriff's Office says a homicide suspect is in custody following a fatal shooting incident at Pewitt's Nest Nature Preserve on County Road W, in the Township of Baraboo.
Officials say during the afternoon of Friday, May 8, multiple callers reported seeing a man pull a woman from a vehicle, shoot her several times, before fleeing towards the City of Baraboo.
Shortly after 2 p.m. officers arrived and located a woman in the parking lot who died after suffering multiple gunshot wounds.
Roughly an hour after the woman was found, a man reportedly had driven into the parking lot of the Sauk Prairie Police Department, exited a van and fired several gunshots into the front door and vestibule of the police department.
Officials say the building was struck several times, but no staff were injured in the shooting.
Sauk Prairie Police Officers were able to locate the vehicle leaving the police department and arrest the driver without incident.
Through investigation, it was determined that it was the same suspect and vehicle from the earlier shooting at Pewitt's Nest.
Police took the suspect to the Sauk County Jail, where he remains in custody.
